Brother is an international electronics manufacturer, with sales in over 100 countries. I worked full time for them for 2 years at UK head office & European head office. Working across all divisions (printers, labelling & sewing), I was involved in creating pan European campaigns with top agencies & evolving their brand guidelines.
Packaging Design / Marketing Collateral / Art Direction / Campaigns
For this project I had to come up with a visual concept that was colourful & would convey the clarity of the ink technology. Looking to nature for inspiration, I went with fruit & flowers with a water theme, a perfect fit with the 'crystal clear' message & the 4 ink colours. I art directed the photo shoot which was lots of fun - spraying flowers with water & dropping fruit into a water tank - which created quite striking results. The blister packs themselves had to be created with 7 different languages for use across Europe. This presented me with a new design challenge - conveying all the information in a visually simple way, whilst considering the various different lengths of copy that had to be included.
As part of the re-brand, I had to completely re-design of all DK label packaging for international use. There is 25 label variations which each needed a different image to identify them with their best application. I bought all the relevant props & directed all the photography & created the packaging - with all languages & technical details, including relevant range info on the reverse. I also created the 'simply professional' logo for inclusion.
I am particularly proud of this project - 10 years on & they are still in use exactly as I created them - they haven't dated.
